
Barbara Whitaker Dalton, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2025 at the Elizabeth House, surrounded with love and care. A lifelong resident of Henderson County, Barbara was known for her unwavering compassion and selfless spirit, always ready to lend a hand to friends and strangers alike.
Barbara retired from Kyocera after 26 years of dedicated service and was a faithful member of Fruitland Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She also faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels with her best friend Margie. Her life was a reflection of her faith and her love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Calvin Dalton, and her brother Joseph Boyd Whitaker.
She is survived by her beloved children; Dianne Wells (Charles), Greg Dalton and Matt Dalton (Claudia); her treasured grandchildren, Amberle Clarke, Audrey Wells, Colby Wells (Bailey), Daniel Dalton, Nicolas Dalton and Emilia Dalton; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Rosie Wells, Barbara will also be lovingly remembered by her supportive sister-in-law Doris Whitaker and her loyal and dear friend Margie Marsh.
Barbara was always willing to listen and offer wise advice to anyone who sought it. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend whose presence brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her .
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Monday, July 07, 2025 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Fruitland Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Smith and Pastor Craig Stepp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fruitland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Elizabeth House, in gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Barbara and her loved ones.
Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
