Jimmie Garth Morrison, 80, of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, at Elizabeth House Hospice in Flat Rock, NC.
Jim was born in Hickory, NC, and graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College. He earned his Masters in Logistics from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Jim received many honors and was awarded the Bronze Star. After spending 21 years in the Air Force serving the US all over the world including Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and the Pentagon, Jim retired from the Air Force. At the age of 70, he retired from his second career at Morgan Stanley.
He found joy spending a day on the water relaxing on his boat with friends, clients, and his loving family. A regular golfer, Jim was a high handicapper, but enjoyed his time on the golf courses in Florida and the North Carolina mountains. And he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wilma Morrison Kiser, and Willie William Morrison. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ellen Young Morrison; son Garth Morrison (Mary); grandchildren Maike and Garett; son Grant Morrison (Amanda); grandchildren Connor, Caroline, and Caleb; brother Ken Morrison (Susy); and sister Patsy Bowman (Dennis).
At a later time, a celebration of his life will be held in Florida.
