Harvey A. Evans

March 21, 1949 – July 3, 2025

Mr. Harvey A. Evans passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at The Gardens of Hendersonville, a memory care facility. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff for the exceptional care and compassion they gave to Harvey.

Born on March 21, 1949, in Rowan County, Harvey was the son of the late Lillian Blanche Freeze Evans and Gregg Robert Evans Sr., and the stepson of Alene Evans. A devoted and hardworking man, he built a successful career as a district manager for CVS. He was a loving father who found joy in coaching his daughters’ softball teams, spending time on the golf course, and cheering passionately for his beloved Duke Blue Devils.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosa Lee Evans. Rose lovingly cared for Harvey until her passing, and it is a blessing to now honor their lives together. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Leretta E. Naile, Jo Ann Safley (Bobby), Bob Surratt (Betty), Helen Meares (Carey), and Julia Barrette (Lou).

Harvey is survived by his daughters: Jill Evans (Todd), Lara Burress (Stephen), and April Evans; his grandchildren: Johnathan Caldwell, Audra Evans, and Alyssa Ritchie; and his great-granddaughter, Eris. He is also survived by his siblings: Aldoph Evans (Kay), Gregg Evans Jr. (Katie), Dennis Evans (Jana), Judy Earnhardt, Delores Waggoner (Terry), and Daryce Rimmer (Michael). Many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly also remain to cherish his memory.

A drop-in Celebration of Life honoring both Harvey and Rosa Lee will be held on Saturday, July 26th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Boylston Baptist Church in Mills River. Reverend Jimmy Burress will officiate.
