Dorothy “Dottie” Cagle Jones, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away in God’s graces after a long and well-lived life.
Dottie was born on March 18, 1930, in Hendersonville, NC, to the late Charles Spurgeon Cagle and Hassie (Garren) Cagle. She grew up on Buncombe Street and attended Hendersonville High School. On May 31, 1950, she married the late Virgil Trammel “V.T.” Jones Jr. a prominent local builder of his time. They raised two sons together, Gary and Rick. Dottie was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and enjoyed fellowship in her weekly Sunday School class. She thoroughly enjoyed walks to the spring, bird watching, gardening on the mountain, antique shopping downtown, and spending time bantering with her family. Prior to marriage, she worked at Schulman’s Department Store on Main Street and then as office manager for her husband’s business, Hendersonville Custom Builders.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters (Lucille Hudson, Mary Jones, Marie Cagle, Margaret Brock, Frances Maxwell), and brother, Charles Cagle.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (wife Dale) of Hendersonville, Rick of Bluffton, SC, grandchildren, Kelly (Joshua Friesen), Wendy (Branden Bartlebaugh), Stacey (Justin Klepp) Chad and Adam as well as great-grandchildren Madeleine and Jacob Friesen.
A private ceremony officiated by the Rev. Steve Scoggins will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville or Four Seasons Hospice. Jackson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
