Gail Nancy Hjelm Wells died on Wednesday July 9, 2025, 20 days shy of her 85th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her father, Holger Hjelm and her mother Caroline (Cashman) HjelmGail was born in Meriden, CT. She was a homemaker for many years. Following a divorce, she obtained her CNA certificate and worked for years for the VNA of CT providing care to many, including a dear neighbor, Ernest Boileau. She moved to NC in 2017 during her retirement and made many friends while here. She was a member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Hjelm of Forest City, her daughters, Kathy Palazzolo and Karriann Begin both of CT, and 2 granddaughters Allison McNamara (Mark), and Stephanie Maddox, 1 grandson Shawn Begin, as well as several great grandchildren and her close niece and nephew: Caroline Romstadt (Chris), George Cesar (Rob).
The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for their care during this time.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
