Eleanor “Joyce” Burnette was born in Morristown, New Jersey to Florence Myra and Joseph Francis Geddis on January 31, 1942.
She died peacefully surrounded by her husband and all of her children on July 10, 2021 following a long illness and a hard fought battle with cancer.
Joyce grew up in Jay, Maine. She graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in 1960, where she met her life love Joe (aka “Ted”). They married and immediately began a family. After raising three children, they retired and built their dream cabin in Linville Falls, NC. Joyce had a wonderful sense of humor and wit, and was loved by all of those whose lives she touched. A great friend to many, and a very special life long friend to a select few. She was a wife for 61 years, a mother to three; Darlene, Duane, and Alan, a MumMum to seven; Clayton, Austin, Anna, Teddy, Jane, Ellie, and Ethan. As one of her last desires, Joyce was able to meet and hug her first great grandson, Brooks, during her final days.
