Faye Gilbert Dalton, age 99, a lifelong resident of Henderson County, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. Born on July 9, 1927, to the late General Mace Gilbert and Sue Emma Garren Gilbert, Faye lived a life richly defined by devotion to God, her family, her church, and her community.
An active and dedicated part of the Edneyville farming community, Faye worked side-by-side with her husband throughout their life together. Her warmth, work ethic, and generous spirit were felt by all who knew her. She found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures – tending to her flowers, cooking and baking meals for loved ones, and sharing quality time with her family and friends. Her quiet strength and unwavering faith were the foundation of her home and a light to her community.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Alvin Dalton, and her son, Wayne Dalton.
She leaves behind a cherished legacy and is survived by her son, Michael Dalton, and his wife, Brenda; her brother, Arnold Gilbert; her three grandchildren, Chris, Brian, and Brooke; and her six great-grandchildren, Arianna, Ryan, Sarah, Creed, Max, and Dean.
