Jerry Edwin Chitwood, 89, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Theodore Chitwood and Lola Sloan Chitwood Bremer.
Jerry was U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He was a Jerry of all trades, working as motorcycle mechanic instructor in Iowa and Colorado, a field rep and technical advisor for US Suzuki, a mechanic at Stewart’s Speed and Sport, and a carpenter. Always one for adventure, he raced motorcycles and go carts, and made numerous trips to Central and South America. He had a love of Native American culture and the state of Colorado.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sons: Danny (Kathy) Chitwood, Jeff (Sheila) Chitwood of Bloomington, IN and one daughter: Jessica Chitwood of Hendersonville, NC, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters: Carol Morris of San Antonio, TX, Trudy (Phil) Baston, Lana (Ralph) May of Ellettsville, IN. Jerry is also survived by his former spouse, Susan Chitwood Barton of Hendersonville, NC. He was predeceased by one son: Pete Chitwood of Bloomington, IN and a former spouse, Lillian Mumby Chitwood of Bloomington, IN.
A memorial service will be planned in the fall in Indiana.
