Linda Gary Brandon, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Monday, July 25, 2022.
Linda was born in Charleston, SC on the 22ndday of June 1945 to Wilber L. and Clara Dale Odom Whetstone. She was one of five children, Bina, Fay, Linda, Cindy and Wilber, Jr.,”Butch”. Her mother moved the family to the town of North, SC when Linda was about 12 years old. Linda’s employer moved her to the Dallas, TX area shortly after she began working following high school. She resided in DeSoto, TX until 1985 when she moved to Atlanta, GA to be closer to her parents in SC. There she began her career as a legal secretary. Linda, among her other talents, was an exceptionally fast and accurate typist. She was also an awesome seamstress, making her own clothes and warm jackets for her husband. She actually learned to sew as a child on her grandmother’s pedal machine. After her husband’s retirements and their relocation from Fairburn, GA to Hendersonville, NC in 1999, Linda was employed as secretary to the CEO of Pardee Hospital. She retired in 2001. After retirement she enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery designs on shirts, blue jeans and jackets. Linda possessed a beautiful and powerful soprano voice with significant range. She sang many solos at weddings and for her church choirs. She was a devout Southern Baptist and volunteered constantly at the churches.
Linda is survived by her husband Gene Brandon; two sons, Robert Gary (Jen) of Auston, TX and Richard Gary (Melody) of Keller, TX and six grandchildren.
She was an intelligent, good, loving and kind person, a devoted mother and wife. She will be seriously missed. Surely somewhere there is now a chorus of angels singing sweeter songs with Linda.
The family would like to thank the ladies of Mountain View Assisted Living for the loving care Linda received.
Jackson Funeral Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.
