Edward “Glad” Gladding Taylor II, 62, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully at Elizabeth House on July 30, 2022 after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife Claire and daughter Becca in his last moments.
Glad was born in Hardin County, Texas, in November of 1959 to Lauriston Sale Taylor, Jr. and Phyllis Banfield Taylor of Silsbee, Texas and graduated from Silsbee High School in 1978. His first job, at 15 years of age, was working on cars and pumping gas at Weeks Texaco gas station, where he earned cash for his first truck. His passion for mechanics continued over the years as he enjoyed tinkering with cars. He also worked for Ausimont USA, and was most proud of his career with Halliburton.
Glad had a charming smile and wry sense of humor, was kind, honest and loyal. He could be gruff, but family would say he was old fashioned and sweet, one of a kind with a heart of gold, and was always there for them and loved them deeply. He was a loving husband to Claire and a doting father to Becca.
Besides his dedication to family, Glad loved his Golden Retrievers, Shih Tzus, Dr. Pepper, musicians George Strait, Tracy Byrd, and ZZ Top; woodworking, golf, snow and water skiing.
Glad is survived by his wife, Claire Taylor of Hendersonville, NC; daughter Becca Perez of Charlotte, NC; brother Lauriston Taylor and wife Joan Scanlon of Littleton, MA; sister Paula Taylor Doherty and husband Dave Doherty of Loudon, TN, and many nieces and nephews. Glad is predeceased by his parents, Lauriston and Phyllis Taylor of Silsbee, TX.
