Susan Boys Frame, 77, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Carolina Village.

Born on February 26, 1948, in Hendersonville to Ernest M. Boys and Norma E. Osborne, Susan lived a life defined by generosity, service, music, and love for her family and community.

Susan was a strong, vibrant woman whose personality touched everyone she met. She gave freely of her time and heart, serving as president of her P.E.O. chapter, actively participating in the Ladies Aid Society, and singing joyfully for many years in the First United Methodist Church choir. A proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, she cherished both education and personal growth throughout her life.

Her love story with her husband, Charles, began in the mountains of Western North Carolina—Susan as a mountaineering counselor at Camp Green Cove and Charles as a mountaineering counselor at Camp Mondamin. Their shared love for the outdoors led to many years of hiking together in the mountains they both called home.

Susan and Charles also shared a remarkable sense of adventure, spending many years abroad traveling the world and living in places such as Malaysia, Thailand, Bahrain, and Singapore. Their travels shaped their lives and enriched their perspectives, and it was during this time abroad that their son, Sam, was born in Singapore. Susan’s experiences overseas deepened her love of people, culture, and the beauty of the wider world. She was very well-traveled and embraced each new place with curiosity and joy.

Susan understood deeply how much the arts and music meant to a community. She was a board member of the Hendersonville Symphony and a tireless advocate for music programs, volunteering with the East Henderson High School band, the Hendersonville Youth Symphony, and the Carolina Youth Symphony. She also poured her professional energy into the camping world, serving for many years as the office manager at Falling Creek Camp and remaining active in the industry long after retirement.

Her home was always open—especially to the friends of her son, Sam. With Sam being a drummer, there were often “extra” kids around, and Susan embraced them as her own, affectionately calling them her “refrigerator friends.” She had a gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and part of the family.

Susan is survived by her beloved son, Sam Frame, and her brother, Ernest “Skip” Boys Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frame.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 204 6th Ave W, Hendersonville, NC 28739.
