Paul Harry Amici Jr, a retired public school teacher, died on Saturday, August 7 in Hendersonville. He was 70.

Paul was born in Brooklyn on July 23, 1951 to Paul Sr and Josephina Amici. Raised in South Florida, Paul pursued careers in music and hairdressing before finding his true love as a public school teacher, where he taught history in the Broward County Public School System. Beloved by his students as a teacher who made learning fun, Paul retired in 2016.

Not one to sit still for even a second, in retirement Paul could be found tinkering in his workshop, building hotrods and motorcycles, or traveling with his family. A history buff, Paul loved riding across America on his motorcycle, visiting Civil and Revolutionary War sites, Presidential Libraries, and National Parks.

For the last several years, Paul volunteered as a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, where he cherished the opportunity to teach his Little Brother to fish and ride a bike.

Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elaine, siblings Joya & Nino, nieces Ann Marie & Jeanie, nephew William, daughter Arielle, stepsons Jonathan & Robert, and his absolute favorite person, his step granddaughter Helen.
