Brian D. Stamm, 70, of Flat Rock, passed away on August 14, 2025.
Brian was born June 23, 1955 in Bethlehem, PA, to Raymond David Stamm and Beatrice Lucille Stamm (nee Schneider). He was the third of five brothers.
In 1967, the family relocated to the Chicago area, where Brian attended Wheeling High School, and got involved with wrestling and swimming. He was also active with The Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps out of Schaumburg IL. After high school, he worked at several financial institutions, including First Arlington National Bank, where he met his future wife, Patti, in 1974 (they married in 1988). He attended Northern Illinois University, graduating from their accounting program in 1980.
In 1986, he and Patti started Sherlock Systems Inc., a computer value-added reseller serving businesses and government. Unfortunately, the stress of this rapidly growing industry took its toll on him, and it was suggested by the cardiologist at Mayo Clinic that he might want to do something else. Accordingly, they sold the business in 1997, and moved to Flat Rock to be closer to family, which had mostly congregated in the Southeast.
After retiring, Brian and Patti became involved in his father’s new venture in South Carolina. They also became involved with the Friends of the Library, where Brian handled site maintenance and landscaping for about 15 years, as well as key logistics for the semi-annual book sales. He served as Treasurer for the homeowners association for four years. He was always among the first to offer assistance when any problems arose.
The two had the privilege of traveling, but ultimately settled on Cancun as their home away from home, and bought time share in 2000, making friends with staff and watching their kids grow up.
Brian will be remembered by anyone his life touched for his optimism, enthusiasm, warmth, compassion and humor. The world is a lesser place for his passing, but he is resting in the arms of Jesus now.
He is survived by his wife, Patti; brothers Philip (wife Sharon, daughter Lisa, son Jason and family), David (wife Mary, daughters Amanda and Molly), and Christopher.
Jackson Funeral Service is honored to serve the Stamm family.
