Throughout our lives we are blessed with special people who are inspirations for us to follow and who show us the importance of leading a Christian life and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Ethel Mintie Hoots, age 93, was that type of a beloved lady. On Monday, August 28, 2023 she entered her glorious place in Heaven.
She was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and the daughter of the late Dudley G. and Essie Jackson. As we remember Ethel, we think of her giving and caring heart, her great love for her family and her faithful devotion to her Lord and Savior. She imparted love, kindness and encouragement wherever and whenever she could. Her positive attitude and smiling face endeared her to everyone.
A devout Christian, she was a lifetime member of Upward Bible Baptist Church where she had served as the pianist and gave her time to church events and special activities. She enjoyed family trips to Dollywood, long walks on the beach, jazzercise, gospel singings, playing piano, her dog and family dinners. Ethel took pride working with Henderson County public schools for over 50 years in child nutrition at East Flat Rock and Upward elementary.
Ethel was loved by everyone blessed to know her. She has been a guiding light to her family and the many lives that she has touched. Her light will forever shine like the stars in the sky.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Willie Hoots and her siblings, D.G. Jackson, Herbert Jackson, Faye Gray, Louise Hill, Paul Jackson and Betty Williams.
