Thomas “Tommy” Roy Moffitt, Jr., 66, of Etowah, NC passed away on August 28, 2025, losing his battle with cancer.
Tommy was born March 29, 1959. He was a son of the late Thomas Roy Moffitt Sr. and Barbara Lucille Moffitt. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Gregory Moffitt; sisters, Julia Marie Moffitt, and Wendy Sue Moffitt.
Tommy graduated from West Henderson High in 1977.
Tommy wholeheartedly devoted 35 years of his life to the Etowah Horse Shoe Fire Department. He attended multiple educational facilities and obtained over 50 different certifications to ensure that he was the best possible firefighter. As a result, he was a great asset to the department and held many positions including Captain, Lieutenant, Captain over Junior Training, and others.
Tommy loved NASCAR, 4 Wheeling, and photography.
Tommy is survived by his four brothers, Kenneth Roy Moffitt (Rita), James Michael Moffitt (Suzy), John Robert “Bobby” Moffitt (Wanda), and Richard Edward Moffitt (Cheryl). Also, a multitude of friends and his Firefighter family.
Memorial donations in Tommy’s memory may be directed to Etowah Horse Shoe Fire Department.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 06, 2025 at one thirty in the afternoon at the Chapel in the Pines of Jackson Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from twelve noon until one thirty in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at Oak Forest Cemetery, Etowah, NC.
