Omelia Corn Stepp joined our heavenly father Thursday, September 7th, just days after her 92nd birthday. Omelia was a Hendersonville native, graduating from Edneyville in 1949, she then attended and graduated from the Gaston School of Nursing. Omelia was within the first groups of nurses at the newly constructed Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital in 1953. She would continue to work at Pardee for the entirety of her nursing career – she ended her nursing career after the passing of her husband in 2001, after 48 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Roy Corn and Annie Inez Lister Corn, her husband Victor Boyce Stepp, a son, Boyce Dale Stepp and siblings, Ezra Corn, Eury “Bud” Corn, Lenell Corn, Earline Corn and Richard Corn.
She attended the Hendersonville First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Alan of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Spurgeon Victor, Elisha Cole (Abby) and Victoria Seelig (Mark) all of Hendersonville; five great grandchildren, Holli, Trace, Mance, Jake and McKenzey.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, September 13th at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fruitland Baptist Bible College or to the North Carolina Nurses Honor Guard.
