James Robert Johnson, Jr., 64, of Saluda, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020.
He was a man of many names – Brother (blood and Not blood), Dad, Poppy, Uncle Jim, Jimmy, Lil Jim, Preacher Man, friend, family, and Son of the King of Kings… Jesus Christ!
Born in Hooper’s Creek, he was a son of Peggy Dean Gillis and James Robert Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a sister, Kaydean Johnson, who he adored.
He is survived by a daughter, Shyloew Susan Johnson Blue and her husband, Jason Blue; a son, James “Jimmy Lee” “JJ” Lee Johnson and his wife, Hunter Johnson; five grandsons, Neo Robert Blue, Coen Jason Blue, Ryland Jessie Lee Hoots, Carter Derek Johnson, and Zayden James Johnson; his favorite granddaughter, “Peaches” Breana Ada Lee Johnson; a brother, Tony Miles “Goober” Johnson, who he continually had a love hate relationship throughout their lives, ask anyone! Let’s not forget his honorary bother/son/family (his person) Jason Strajna and his wife, Wendy Strajna and their daughter, “Race Girl” Jennifer Strajna, and their sons, “Little Jay” Jason Strajna, and “Littlest” Cameron Strajna.
He dearly loved his grandchildren. His favorite thing was to make them smile and laugh and mostly to aggravate them!!!
Jim left his earthly home to wait for us to join him in Heaven and walk or ride the streets of gold with him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 14th beginning at 6 pm.
at the home of James Lee Johnson at 568 Souther Road, Fletcher, NC 28732 for a “drop in” visit and potluck dinner provided by closest friends and family.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held Tuesday, September 15th at 1:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2557 Chimney Rock Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Pastor Steve Blanton will officiate. In lieu of flowers please consider donations through his GoFundMe page.
