After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Patsy Ann Jackson passed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 13, 2025. Born October 5th, 1946 to William and Gertrude Poffenbaugh in Martinsville Virginia.
Patsy was a world traveler from an early age do to her father’s job with Dupont. Moving all over the United States, South America, and Holland.
Patsy Graduated from East Carolina University with a master’s in elementary education. After graduation she moved to Jacksonville Florida and met the love of her life Yates at Ocean way Elementary school.
Patsy and Yates were married in Jacksonville on July 1st 1972. Shortly after being married they moved to Hendersonville, NC. In Hendersonville they raised two girls Angie (Travis) and Katie (Dan).
Patsy and Yates devoted over 30 years of teaching elementary students between North Carolina and Florida . After retirement Patsy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Tristin and Ava .
Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed serving her church. Working in the kitchen, singing in the choir and preparing snacks for all the kids at Mission friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister Susan.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
