Linda Barnwell Burgess, age 74, passed away after a long illness on September 17, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.
She was born January 26, 1949 at Mountain Sanitarium and Hospital in Fletcher, NC to Willard Eugene Barnwell and Lois Corn Barnwell.
Linda was a Hendersonville native graduating from Edneyville High School. She worked many years and retired from General Electric in Flat Rock, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Eugene Barnwell and Lois Corn Barnwell.
She is survived by a son Kevin Burgess and son-in-law Gary Scott of Yulee, FL; a daughter, Tanya Stepp and son-in-law JD Stepp of Fernandina Beach, Florida; 2 grandchildren, Cameron Dey of Hendersonville, NC, Caleb Dey of Fernandina Beach, Florida; a sister, Joyce Murdock and brother-in-law Mike Murdock of Hendersonville, NC; two nephews, Allen Whitmire, Tim Whitmire and family all of Hendersonville, NC.
Linda was the absolute best mother and Maw Maw, that always loved her family unconditionally. She was always there for her family and always put them first. Linda lived a life with compassion, love, and dedication to her family. Her two grandchildren brought immeasurable happiness into her life. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, playing puzzles, coloring on her I-Pad, diamond dot pictures, crochet, facetime calls, watching birds outside and seeing the occasional bear outside.
Visitation will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, September 22nd at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Steven Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
