Joan Fay Truman, 88, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on Saturday, September 25th. She was born on November 13th, 1932 in Allenville, MO to the late Guy Lesch and Ruth Lee Athall Mansker Lesch. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Truman who died in 2005, her two sisters and three brothers.
Joan graduated in 1959 from St. Louis University School of Nursing and worked in a variety of hospital and outpatient settings. She retired as registered nurse in 2001 after 22 years of federal service at WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Joan was a woman of strong faith, always finding ways to give to others as was her generous nature. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed membership in a number of local organizations including AAUW.
She is survived by her two children, Bridget Mary Truman and Matthew Duane Truman.
A celebration of life will be held at Jackson Funeral Home in Hendersonville, NC on Saturday October 2nd at 10:00 am and will be proceeded by a mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Friday, October 1st at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital as it was a charity near and dear to her heart.
