Oct 4, 2026

Daisy Jean Vandiver, 86, of Arden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at The Greens of Hendersonville.

Born in Landrum, South Carolina, Jean was the daughter of the late Marvin and Mattie Pettit Parish. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Landrum Vandiver.

Jean was a woman of strong faith who loved her Lord and found great joy in serving others. She was a longtime member of New Beginnings Independent Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, church librarian, and helped oversee the church food pantry. She had a special place in her heart for the seniors of her church and always made sure they were remembered, especially at Christmas, when she lovingly prepared handmade Christmas baskets for them. Jean was also a devoted supporter of church missions.

Jean was a proud graduate of Tuxedo High School. After 30 years of dedicated service, Jean retired from Ball Brothers Corporation. She was known as an expert canner and took great pride in the things she could grow, cook, and preserve. She loved working in her garden, cooking for others, and gathering with her family. There was always something special about the food she prepared and the love she put into caring for the people around her.

Jean’s greatest gift was her caring heart. She never seemed to think twice about doing something for someone else, and she found happiness in making others feel loved and remembered. Her faith, kindness, generosity, and love for her family and church will be treasured by those who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Kate Hyder and Marion Loftis; and her brothers, Charles Parish and Junior Parish, nephew, Kenneth Hyder and two nieces, Tammy Hyder and Kathy Bryant

Those left to cherish her memory include her nephew, Steve Hyder; niece, Donna Hyder and husband, Donald; great-nephew, Chris Dublynn; and nephew, Reverend Daniel Bryant.

Jean leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed, but her family and friends can find comfort knowing that she is now at home with her Lord and Savior, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life.

A graveside service will be announced.
