James Boyd “Bobo” Lancaster, 97, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 after a brief illness at Pardee Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Louise Pryor Lancaster, his parents, Virgil Roscoe and Nora Marlow Lancaster, siblings, Paul, Ernest, Herman, Horace, Roscoe, Bernice, Guy, Sue and George.
He attended Edneyville High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1944. He served with four of his brothers during World War II.
After the war he returned to Henderson County to farm and grow apples.
He loved being with his family, enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Barnwell and her husband Kenny of Hendersonville and Sara Lee McCrain and her husband Don of Hendersonville; his sister, Betty Holmes of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Aresa Gardo and her husband Bill of Hendersonville, Vanesa Gilbert of Hendersonville and Laura McCrain and her husband Will Barnwell of Buena Vista, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Chip, Vadah and Greta Gardo and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 15th at Lanning-Pittillo Cemetery with Dr. Bryan Melton officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the US Army.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lanning-Pittillo Cemetery, 2852 Fruitland Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
