Please join us in celebrating the life of Earline “Grandmama” Virginia Crouch Young. Earline was born in Winnsboro, SC on October 2, 1930 to Pearl and Amos Crouch. She passed at the age of 91 years young on October 12, 2021.
Earline graduated from Weaverville High School in 1949. She was an Honors student and a member of the Glee Club. She was well-liked by her classmates who described her as a “swell gal” in her Senior yearbook.
After high school, she worked as a professional seamstress. It was at her job at Biltmore Manufacturing Company that she met her sweetheart, Russell Lee Ander Young who worked as a bundle boy. Russell soon joined the United States Navy and on February 2, 1952, while on weekend leave, they were married. They moved around quite a bit during military life before building their home in 1964 in Mills River, NC. It was there that she raised their family. Her son, Terry, and daughter, Patricia were her pride and joy. She loved to sew their clothes and to cook all the meals and tasty baked goods for her family. She loved being a mother and wife and considered her family her most cherished treasures.
Earline was a faithful member of Boylston Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Sunday School and the choir. She loved her church family and attended every church function she could. She loved music: she was always singing, and she played piano. She also loved sewing, reading, cooking, and traveling-especially to the beach!
She was preceded in death by many loving family and friends including her parents, her siblings: Hazel, Ruby, and Paul, and her dog, Brownie. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, her children and their spouses: Daniel’le and Jackie, her grandchildren: Shannon, Aubree, and Leander, nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters in law.
Services will be held at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Hendersonville, North Carolina, October 19th, 2021. Visitation will be from 1-2 with Service following at 2. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Boylston Baptist Church Building Fund at 10642 Boylston Hwy, Mills River, NC 28759.
