Jeffrey L. Wright, 57, passed peacefully on October 13, 2020. His final days were spent with family and friends as he testified of God’s grace and mercy. Jeffrey was born in Asheville, NC to Billy and Mary Wright.
Jeffrey’s passion for auto body work began at an early age, obtaining his welding degree at 18. He could often be found in a garage with grease on his hands, welding helmet on his head, and a smile on his face.
He spent years in the NASCAR circuit as a fabricator for Haas Racing, Andy Petree Racing and Precision Products Racing. From there, he used his extraordinary skillset to rebuild a 1960’s Corvette into an award-winning streetcar. He spent the last four years designing, building and testing a unique aluminum-bodied prototype sports car for American Car Corporation. Coworkers describe him as a rare talent, with a God-given gift.
When he wasn’t working on cars he could be found riding his Harley or singing with his band, Villnz. A self-proclaimed “simple man”, Jeffrey enjoyed sitting by a campfire and taking in the scenic views at his Chimney Rock camp site.
He attended Fletcher Baptist Church and sited December 4, 2000 as the day he gave his heart to the Lord. His love for God was reflected in how he treated others, always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need. His big heart, surpassed only by his gentle soul.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Dianne.
He is survived by his parents, Billy and Mary, his sister Crystal, his sister Cheryl, and her husband David.
A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, October 17 at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Phillip Youngblood and Pastor Roy Waldroup will officiate. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am-12 noon Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations, in Jeffrey’s honor, to be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
