Huguette Caupos Fierro

12-28-32 to 10-15-24

Huguette Fierro (nee Caupos), a resident of Flat Rock, Henderson County, N.C., passed away of natural causes at the age of 91 on October 15, 2024.

Huguette was a proud daughter of Orleans, France, born to Camille and Vincent Caupos on December 28, 1932.

She grew up enduring the hardships of the Nazi occupation of France, yet always maintained a sunny and positive outlook toward life. In 1955 she married Jose A. Fierro, a US soldier stationed in France. Military life led her family to live in postings to Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, the Panama Canal Zone, and in 1966, Madrid Spain.

After her husband retired from the Army, they remained in Madrid, where Jose passed in 2008.

In 2013 Huguette moved to beautiful Henderson County, North Carolina, to be close to her daughter Linda Grup, and son-in-law Jack Grup.

An insatiably curious and well-traveled person, Huguette was fluent in three languages and thrived experiencing different cultures and meeting people. She had the heart and soul of an artist, was an accomplished ceramist, and was skilled in multiple crafts.

Huguette is survived by her daughter Linda Grup and husband Jack Grup of Flat Rock, North Carolina; her son Christian Fierro and wife Alison Fierro of Santa Rosa, California; her sister Micheline Scoggins and family of Riverside California; her grandchildren Lisa Steinacker of Brussels, Belgium, Kyle Fierro and Nicholas Fierro of California; and her great grandchildren Sebastian, Isabel and Zachary.

Huguette was predeceased by her husband and her sister Arlette Caupos.
