Joseph L. “Joe” Hill of Hendersonville, North Carolina went to be with his Lord and his family on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Theodore Hill and Phebe Maybell Bryant Hill, his siblings, William Albert Hill, Barbara Ann Hill and Floride Drusilla “Flo” Hill Stanley.
Joe was well known around Hendersonville. He never drove a car but walked countless miles from one end of town to the other stopping and visiting many friends along the way.
He volunteered to walk yearly in the March of Dimes, went on many mission trips for his churches, cheered on local high school football games and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
He loved all the people of Henderson County and for a while would help with funerals at Jackson Funeral Service and Shepherd Funeral Home.
He was of the Baptist Faith and had attended Fruitland Baptist Church, Bat Cave Baptist Church, Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Mt. View Baptist Church, First Church of The Nazarene and Fruitland Methodist Church.
He is survived by his nephew, Butch Stanley; two cousins, Sandy Collier of Lexington, SC and and Suzanne McDowell of Cullowhee, NC., close friends, David and Linda Bradley, Mac and Judy Cumbo and many other friends. Joe loved all of Henderson County, especially the East Eagle Side.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Shepherd Memorial Park with Dr. Mike Smith and Dr. Bryan Melton officiating.
Donations may be made to the March of Dimes, Fruitland Baptist Church or Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
