Melaney “Mel” Lynn Thomas , 57, of Hendersonville NC, left us on October 3rd, 2023. This was a very unexpected tragically painful loss for her closest. Melaney had been battling heart disease for over 5 years and finished her battle peacefully, as she slept.
Melaney was born in Rome, NY the youngest of four children born to Marvin and Arletta Tefft Thomas. She arrived on this earth November 24th,1965. A mere, four days shy of one year after sister Melinda was born. Melaney was proceeded in death by her Dad Marvin Thomas and Sister ”soulmate” Melinda Medford Thomas.
Melaney is survived by her daughter and best friend Andrea “Drea” Michaela Turner and grandchildren Rowan Kade Witaschek Turner age 17 and Isaac Gabriel Turner age 23. Her son Bradley Adam Levi, her pride and joy. Goddaughter Joanna Seagle, who she loved as if she were her own. As well as, her Mom Arletta Mease our families home base, Her loving brother Bryan Thomas and sister Marletta Halen.
Melaney was an extremely loving Mama, daughter, sister and friend. She loved and cared for so many people throughout her life. She was a mother to many through the years. To all that ever felt that bond with her, please know she loved all y’all til her last breath. She is the only person that truly never wavered in giving. The selflessness she displayed quietly, often rang out loud in our hearts. Life had finally lead her to love that was true and a relationship that was the home, she only dreamed of. Johnny Underwood you were IT for her! She had been a dedicated care taker in the healthcare for over 20 years. She will forever be missed and never forgotten.
Mom, may you feel the sea and smell the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic. I love you so much mom and I promise to honor you in all that I do. I Love you til the end of time. Drea.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Melaney will be held Saturday, November 04, 2023 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church, 2501 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791. The family encourages anyone that wishes to celebrate and honor this beautiful woman’s life to reach out to her children to get further details. A graveside service for both Melaney and Melinda Thomas, sisters born to this earth within 1 year of each other and departed just the same 10 months apart will be held on Sunday, November 26th, 2023 at 3:00 in the afternoon at Fruitland Cemetery on Townsend Road, Hendersonville, NC
