Gail Marie Drews, 76, died October 28, 2021 while at Life Care Center of Hendersonville for rehabilitation from a broken hip. She also suffered from Chronic Congestive Heart Failure and Pneumonia.
Her husband John, sister Jean Jackland, and brother Russ Mueller survive Gail.
Gail was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to George and Nora Mueller. She had five older brothers and sisters: George, Shirley, Bill, Jean, and Russ.
Growing up with parents who soon retired saw Gail attending many different schools in Milwaukee, then Northern California, back to Wisconsin, then Winter Haven Florida, and graduating from High School in Milwaukee. She attended The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, but graduated with a degree in Elementary Education at The University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. She taught in the Cudahy, Wisconsin public school system before moving to Massachusetts, then New Jersey, and Connecticut where she continued to be involved in elementary education. Gail and John retired to Sarasota, Florida in the year 2000 and eventually established a winter home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida and a summer home in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
Gail enjoyed corresponding via cards and letters with the many friends she developed wherever she lived. Being on the East Coast allowed for many enjoyable trips to Europe, as well as, so many historically important parts of the USA. But her favorite avocation was to make our house a home. Decorating for the many seasons, especially Christmas brought her great joy.
Family and friends will all miss Gail’s sense of humor, quick wit, along with kindness and the desire to be a good person.
There will be no formal service, but a small celebration of Gail’s life will be held for local friends.
Gail’s favorite charity was Southeastern Guide Dogs (https://www.guidedogs.org/).
