Carla Janis Hume, of Henderson County, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Carla Janis Hume, known to most simply as “Jan” or “Janis”, lived a life of dedication to family and God. She had a loyalty that many can’t fathom, to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and even her employer. Her offbeat humor made a room think, and laugh, and her smile never failed to brighten a room. Even in some of the darkest moments of other’s lives she could make them remember the good.
A native of Henderson County NC she spent most of her life there, with a few scattered years here and there in other states. Her family established parts of Henderson county, so her roots were deep and lasting. She never had a truly harsh word, and she always took the high road if she could.
Janis was a mother and wife first, a grandmother, and an employee last. She is survived by her husband, of 38 years, Robert Hume, her two children, Hillary and Justin Hume, and her two grandchildren, Jordan Maldonado, and Alexander (Alex) Hume. She is also survived by many cousins throughout Henderson County and across the country. She worked for Walgreens in Skyland for nearly 14 years and made many friends and acquaintances through the years.
She will be sorely missed as we all learn to function without her.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hendersonville. Burial will be at Shepherd Memorial Park following the service.
