Joan Elaine Katzenberger, 87, of Fletcher, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Lodge at Mills River.
She was the daughter of the late James N and Amena K. Fulford Trappen and wife of the late Werner Katzenberger who died in 2014.
Joan loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Blue Ridge Bible Church, where she was active with the children’s ministry. She was an elders wife and was devoted to her husband and family. Joan loved her home and was very content just staying home. She was very hospitable to her family and friends and loved to feed anyone who came through her door.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jeffrey Katzenberger of Mills River and David Katzenberger (Diana) of Fletcher, two daughters, Debbie Walker (Larry) of Fletcher and Erika Earwood (Rick) of Mills River, eight grandchildren, Matt Walker (Kelly), Bryan Walker (Laura), Nick Walker (Rachel), Jessie Barz (Frankie), Kyle Earwood (Leanna), Taylor Sweezy (Thomas), Luke Earwood (Hope), and Aaron Katzenberger, ten great grandchildren, Sage Walker, Josiah Walker, Zachary Walker ,Everett Walker, Memphis Sweezy, Drayton Sweezy, Maddi Sweezy, Callie Earwood, Hudson Earwood and Eli Johnson, one brother, Ronnie Trappen of Long Island, NY and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held, Wednesday, November 03, 2021 at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Chapel in the Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Pastor Peter Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. A private burial will follow the service.
The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of The Lodge at Mills River, who provided loving care to Joan.
