Dennis Atwood Hodges, 80, of Dana, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.

Dennis was born July 16, 1942 at Hinesville, Georgia in Liberty County, to the late William and Evelyn Salter Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lynn Hodges who died at birth.  


He is survived by a brother, James Edward Hodges (Phyllis) of Reedsville, WV; half-sister, Grace Rhodes of Dana, NCand an extended family, Gail Roberson of Bluffton SC. He is also survived by his wife of 58 years, Ella Hodges of Dana NC.

Dennis grew up at Hilton Head Island, SC. Upon graduating from college, he served in the United States Army, after which he worked for The Employment Security Commission as a Farm Labor Supervisor retiring after 30 years of Service.  

He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, very active with senior citizens and bus driver for all groups.  

He was a member of Kedron Lodge 387 AFAM serving as Master, Teacher and performed other duties in the lodge. He was also a Shriners Clown.

Dennis was a Godly man who loved people and enjoyed helping them. 

A funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Refuge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at George Miller Cemetery, Glendale Springs, NC at noon on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Jackson Funeral Service is assisting the family with the service.
