Roberta Lou Radcliffe
Roberta Lou “Bobbie” (Lear) Radcliffe passed away on November 7, 2022 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bobbie was born September 2, 1927 in Eldorado, Kansas to Robert and Mary Dell Lear. She grew up in Jackson, Missouri and graduated from Southeast Missouri State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree.
She married David H. Radcliffe on August 12, 1948 and they moved to Danville, Illinois, where she taught public school music education for several years. She played the piano, organ, and directed choirs for churches and community activities before and after she was married.
She became a Homemaker after her two sons were born, but continued to play and also give private piano lessons. She also enjoyed playing bridge, needlework, and watching sports.
After Dave retired, they moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1986. They joined the Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, where they became active members. She played the piano at the church for some 25 years. Bobbie had a style to her playing that people enjoyed. She always hoped that, through her music, she glorified her Lord.
In 2011, they moved to Carolina Village where she enjoyed making new friends and renewing old friendships.
Her husband of 73 years preceded her in death on March 2, 2021. She is survived by her son David (Delia) of Las Vegas, NV; son Scott (Rebecca) of Bogart, GA; grandson Daniel (Samantha), great-grandson Warren, and great-granddaughter Raegan of Dawsonville, GA; and granddaughter Emily (Samuel) of Sioux Falls, SD.
