Deborah Louise Braswell (née Evans), 64, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away after a courageous battle against cancer with her husband, family and friends by her side on November 9, 2025.

Debbie is survived by, and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Darryl Braswell, her mother,  Barbara Holan (née Kodysh), her  mother-in-law and father-in-law, Diane and Steve Allen, her sister, Lorrie (Evans) Farnsworth and husband David of Medina, Ohio, her sister Kelly (Evans) Begeman and husband Richard of Trenton, Michigan, her nephew Russell Farnsworth, wife Courtney and cherished great-niece Morgan of Seville, Ohio, her niece Amanda Farnsworth of Medina, Ohio, her loving cousins, her treasured crazy friends from Highland High School with whom she has remained close and her beloved fur babies. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Evans.

Debbie was a brilliant shining light of love in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her time on this Earth was characterized love, compassion, generosity, humor, tenacity, creativity and an unwavering belief in family.

She is a graduate of Highland High School (1979) in Medina, Ohio where she made lifelong friends and played every sport.  She could run faster, jump higher and pretty much do it better than anyone else, including the guys and she did it all with that smile.  She earned her BSN through  The University of Texas, Houston.  In nursing,  she found her true calling.  Debbie worked with the most vulnerable patients throughout the years.  She loved the little ones in the NICU. She also worked on pediatric burn unit and a pediatric heart transplant unit along the way.  She was the Director of Wound Care Services at UNC Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC from which she recently retired due to heath issues.  She was passionate about those whom she cared for and highly respected by her patients and colleagues.

She never met a person or an animal that she didn’t love and respect. She took care of everyone and every creature both great and small. She never faced a problem she didn’t tackle with grace, humility and a good joke. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh and she always made even the worst situation easier to manage. Debbie was an amazing nurse by trade but an even better caretaker by nature. She was the absolute best daughter, daughter in law, sister, wife, aunt, friend and  “knight in shining armor” that anyone could ever imagine.  Her passing has left a huge void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives she touched.

A celebration service of Debbie’s life will be held at 2 pm Friday, November 14, 2025 in The Chapel in The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service, Hendersonville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
