Sandra Rena Ward, born on August 16, 1950. passed away on November 8, 2025.
She was a lifelong native of North Carolina who left behind a legacy of love and compassion. Born in Henderson County, Sandra attended Edneyville High School and Isothermal Community College. She dedicated over 15 years of her professional life as an insurance and debt analyst at Mission Hospital, followed by a decade at Blue Ridge Community Health, where she continued to make an impact until her retirement. Sandra worked at Hendersonville School for Little Folks until she fully retired.
Sandra was known for her caring nature and deep empathy for those facing challenges. She helped and encouraged countless family members, particularly her niece, Ricky Lynn Fowler, as well as her niece and nephew from both sides of the family. A determined and independent woman, Sandra was particularly close to her grandfather, Elbert Corn, and her loving parents, Louise Corn Ward and John B. Ward.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters: Betty Jean Ward, who tragically passed away while in nursing school at the age of 18, and Anita Irene Ward, who left us in recent years. Sandra was very close with her sisters and felt their absence keenly after their passing. Sandra’s parents also passed away, and she treasured the memories of her family deeply. Sandra had a special love for animals, especially her dogs, and was passionate about their health and well-being.
She is survived by her brother, Alan Ward of Hendersonville, along with her three nephews: Dr. Bryant Ward, Billy Ward, and Jonathan Ward, and her two nieces: Ricky Lynn Fowler and Meredith Ward Longo. Additionally, she leaves behind a multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she cherished deeply.
Alan Ward, her remaining sibling, wishes to share a heartfelt observation: “Always remember your family and cherish them while they are here.”
