Lois Alma Griffin McKinnish, 89, of East Flat Rock, NC went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and was the daughter of the late Mamie Baldwin Griffin and Orville Henry Griffin.
She was preceded in death by her husband the Reverend Harold Lloyd McKinnish (2013) and a brother, Ed Griffin (1993).
Her family settled in Fruitland, NC as descendants of the Revolutionary War Patriot, John Peter Corn. A graduate of Edneyville High School and Spartanburg Methodist College, she retired from the Henderson County School System as Librarian at Dana Elementary School and Founding Librarian Associate at Blue Ridge Community College.
Lois served along with her husband as minister to many churches in Henderson County and also in the Greenville/ Greer area of South Carolina.
She was a member of the East Flat Rock First Baptist Church.
Harold and Lois resided in Highland Hills community since 1968 and had many friends as neighbors through the years. Lois enjoyed her “walking friends” Grace Hyde and Brianna Warren.
She is survived by a son, Jim McKinnish (Paula) of Hendersonville; a daughter, Linda McKinnish Bridges (Tilden) of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, Josh McKinnish (Stephanie), Amber McKinnish McCall, and Kyle McKinnish Bridges (Melissa); three great grandchildren, Addison, Avary, and Ayla; two sisters, Hazel Griffin Ashburn, Marie Griffin Searcy (Jim) and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Griffin Mann.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the East Flat Rock First Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the East Flat Rock First Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her funeral will be streamed through East Flat Rock First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lois Griffin McKinnish and Harold McKinnish Scholarship Fund through the Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute.
