Lee Roy Nicholson, 81, of Dana, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 28, 2025.
The son of the late George Roy and Denia Phillips Nicholson, he was also proceeded in death by a brother Larry Kent Nicholson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Hoots Nicholson; daughters, Angela N. Meno (Larry), Candace N. Cagle (Tim); grandchildren Zack and D.J. Cagle; brothers Harry Nicholson (Shirley) and Jerry Nicholson (Becky); and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of East Henderson High School in 1963, Lee Roy continued his education at Asheville Buncombe Technical College, graduating with a degree in heating and air conditioning. This was the start of a 60 year career. In 1975, he founded Nicholson Company and continued in the trade until retiring in July 2024.
He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Trustee and other positions.
His service to Henderson County spans several decades. In 1971 he was a charter member of Dana Fire Department, serving in many positions including President of the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Henderson County Planning Board, serving 9 years as Chairman, Henderson County Parks and Recreation, Dana Parks Committee and was an original appointed member to the Henderson County Fire Advisory Board.
He was an avid collector of antique tractors, farm equipment and service station memorabilia. He loved sharing the history and use of each piece in his collection.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Refuge Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Neelands officiating. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
