Mary Elizabeth Gordon Ballard, 95, formerly of Tuxedo, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2022 after an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Florida Pace Gordon of Saluda, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wilkie Ballard, a son, Roger Alex Ballard and her siblings, Ulysses, Leroy, Leonard, Arnold, Lillie Mae and Vernon.
She was born and raised in the Mountain Page Community of Saluda, NC and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking.
She is survived by her children, Wilma Osteen and her husband Carl of Greenville, SC, Robert Ballard and his wife Jane of Green River, NC, David Ballard and his wife Susan of Asheboro, NC and Mary Donna Ballard of Arden, NC; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Amy, Jill, Jason, Gary, Josh, Heather, Travis and Erin; twenty seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandsons and a special niece Margie Howard (William).
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow in the church with Rev. Sam Beddingfield, Carl Osteen and Jeff Osteen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Henderson County Council on Aging Meals on Wheels.
