David William Sentell, 79, passed away on December 12, 2020 at Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC following a sudden illness.
David was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville and the son of the late R.V. and Irene Sentell. He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School, class of 1959, and a loyal supporter of the Bearcats. After graduation, he went to work for General Electric where he retired after 40 years of service. David was a member of the National Guard unit stationed in Henderson County. He was a member of the Men’s Sunday School class at First Baptist Church Hendersonville.
After retiring from GE, David was able to pursue his hobby of golf and enjoyed playing the many courses in the area. David was also a member of the Hendersonville Lions Club where he enjoyed serving the community through their various service projects, especially their yearly golf tournament.
David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia, his children Susan Newman and her husband, Herschel, of Hendersonville, Robert Sentell and his wife, Sherrie, of Moravian Falls, NC, his four grandchildren, Spencer and Flannery Newman, and Kevin and Anna Sentell, his sister, Barbara Rhodes, his nieces, nephews, cousins, and several lifelong friends.
A private family service will be officiated by Pastor Steve Scoggins June 12, 2021. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Hendersonville Lions Club Foundation, PO Box 2093, Hendersonville, NC, 28793.
