Alvin Dennis McMinn, 71, of Horse Shoe, NC passed away on December 12, 2022 after a long battle with pulmonary issues.
Dennis was born in Fletcher, NC to the late Sue and James Hubert McMinn in January
1951. After graduating from West Henderson High School, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Linda. They had 51 years of growing and learning together. He was blessed with two sons, Gregg and Jeremy, who were the highlight of his life. He taught them his love of hunting and fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Dennis was employed with General Electric his entire career, but his true love was being outdoors working in the garden. Anything having to do with being outdoors brought him joy. He would grow enough food to feed a neighborhood. He was very kind and giving, always thinking someone might need it. Dennis could sit for hours and watch his birds and deer in the back yard. His love for nature and his family gave him so much joy and now we know he is enjoying sights that we can’t even imagine. Dennis will be greatly missed but all the lessons and beautiful memories will be with us until we see him again.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two son, Thomas Gregory McMinn and his wife, Heather and Jeremy Jackson McMinn and his wife, Andrea; 3 grandsons, Ethan, Luke and Zack; two granddaughters, Maureen and Natalia; three brothers, Thomas and Donald McMinn of Mills River and Billy McMinn of Fletcher.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Fletcher First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Thursday, December 15th at the church. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
