In loving memory of Betty Jean Noland Gosnell, 87, of Hendersonville, NC, who passed Friday, December 16, 2022. A native of Asheville, NC, Betty Jean was born on February 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Stella Noland of Asheville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Fred Gosnell, and brothers, Robert Noland, Jr., and Hubert Noland.
Betty Jean is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Gosnell Nickles, husband Nicholas Nickles, and Tracey Gosnell Shaw, husband K. Lance Shaw; four grandchildren: Dylan Cole and wife Lauren Cole, Hunter Cole and wife Marion Cole, Cade Shaw, and Carlyn Shaw; along with two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Cole and Copeland Cole.
Betty Jean grew up in the Oakley/Reynolds Community, was a cheerleader during high school, and was an active church member. She married Bobby, in August of 1954 and began 67 years of loving affection. With Bobby at her side, Betty Jean was the epitome of grace. Those who knew her were able to enjoy her sense of humor and practical jokes. She had a successful career as a draftsman for Southern Bell, until retiring, in order to devote herself full-time to her family. Betty Jean enjoyed traveling, camping at the beach and lake, boating, playing cards with friends, and dancing.
Giving of herself and having unquestionable love for her family were evident throughout her life. She supported her children and grandchildren in every way possible. She is most fondly remembered for her love and commitment to others. To be on the receiving end was a true blessing.
A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, December 21, at eleven o’clock in the morning at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (Asheville NC) with Reverend Richard Merck of Naples Baptist Church officiating.
