Verna Pauline Smith,85, entered into rest on December 17, 2025, passing peacefully while surrounded by loving family and serene tranquility. She was born on April 09, 1940, to Elwood and Althea Lloyd.

Verna was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband, David Smith, whom she married on October 10, 1968; her parents, Elwood and Althea Lloyd; her brother, Cecil Lloyd; and her granddaughter, Kimie Comstock.

She leaves behind five children and their families who will forever cherish her loving example.

She is survived by her son Randolph Smith and his wife Ginger Smith, and his children Blake Smith, Amanda Sparks, Kara Comstock and Crystal Player; her son Larry Smith and his wife Raeann Smith and his daughter Kelsei Stetler; and her son Jonathan Smith and his wife Holly Smith, and their children Victoria Vazquez, Ryan Vazquez and Hailey Smith; her son Thomas Smith and his fiancé Tracy Sanders, and his children Rebecca Perkins, Emily Driskill and Saralyn Fleming; and her daughter Joy Immel and her husband Gerald Immel Jr. and their children Christopher Smith, Gerald Immel III and Amber Immel.

Verna is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were richly blessed by her love and prayers.

Verna was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and University of Maine at Presque Isle. While raising he children, she owned and operated Wood-N-Needles Works Unfinished Furniture Store in Jonesboro, Arkansas, demonstrating both dedication to her family and a strong work ethic. After her children were grown, she went on to serve others though meaningful careers in social work and real estate.

Her faith was lived out through service and love. For many years, Verna served as a Cub Scouts den mother in Jonesboro, where she helped guide and encourage young boys, leaving a lasting spiritual and moral influence on countless families.

Verna found joy in sewing, cooking, and opening her home and heart to those she loved. Above all, she treasured time spent wth her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, faithfully praying over each one.

Verna’s life reflected Christ’s love-marked by kindness, humility and devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the promise that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the presence of her Savior.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to your local Hospice or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Naples Baptist Church, 799 Rugby Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28791.  Burial will follow the service  at Shepherd Memorial Park, 5045 Asheville Hwy, Hendersonville, NC 28791. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service in the church.
