Reverend Paul Andrew Travis, 90, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Born in Corning, NY in March of 1933 to the late Carlton and Sarah Travis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Lyons Travis who passed away in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Joyce Nemec Travis; Son, Tim A. Travis and his wife Kay; Stepsons, Glenn Waldbart and his wife, Alison, Mark Waldbart and his wife, Robin, Wayne Waldbart and his wife, Dolly; eight grandchildren, Tommy, Anya, Heidi, Kara, Josh, Heather, Cameron and Bailey; and eight great-grandchildren.
He graduated from London Bible College as well as the Seminary in London Ontario Canada. He loved music and sang in many choirs in churches, school and played his trumpet. His favorite hymns played on the trumpet were “How Great Thou Art”, “In the Garden” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”.
He served as pastor and interim in many states. In 1974 he was called to pastor Faith Tabernacle in Hendersonville NC. Later he founded and built Bethany Bible Church. He spiritually influenced hundreds of lives – through personal and marriage counseling as well as churches, pastors and by his personal desire to walk “In His Steps“daily.
Later Paul was asked to be the Director of Christ-Centered Counseling. Then he met Dr. Neil T. Anderson who founded Freedom in Christ Ministry and he said he wanted us on the staff, and we’ve been there ever since.
A Memorial service will be held on March 23, 2024 at Bethany Bible Church, 207 Chadwick Avenue in Hendersonville, NC at 1:00 p.m.
