Dorothy Jean Lance Pace

After several years of declining health, on December 24th, 2024, Dorothy Jean Lance Pace departed this life for her eternal home. Her beloved family members were by her side.

She was a native of Transylvania County born on May 26th, 1942. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lance and Thelma McConnell Lance, her Brother Lloyd Lance and her sister Mary Jane Collins (John).

Left to treasure her memory are her husband of 63 loving years, Volney Leon Pace; her son, Michael Pace; her granddaughter, Haley Pace Tritle (Branson); her step-granddaughter, Erin Dawson (Matt); her step-great grandson, Pierce Dawson; her sister, Fay Cameron (Don) of Mount Pleasant, SC; her sister-in-law, Lisa Lance of Candler, NC along with many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a proud member of the 1960 graduating class of Brevard High School. She was a long-time member of Little River Baptist Church where she served as church florist, church historian, church cemetery secretary and treasurer and children’s Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the southeastern chapter of the American Rhododendron Society as well as the Vaseyi chapter of the Azalea Society of America. She was a member and a volunteer with the Henderson County Genealogical and Historical Society. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

Her family and friends will always remember her unwavering optimism and positive, cheerful disposition even when going through tough times.

A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery with the funeral service immediately following in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Little River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 51 Little River Church Rd Penrose, NC 28766.

The family has entrusted Jackson Funeral Service with the arrangements.
