“LANEY”
Today, Sunday, December 31, 2023, the Lord received our beloved wife, mother, sibling, friend.
Laura Laine Morris Huskey was born February 20, 1937. She gained her angel wings today and flew to meet her father and mother Earl and Eva Morris of Kings Mountain NC. Waiting to greet her there was her older sister Helen Morris McDaniel, husband Bill. Her younger brother Jerry Morris was waiting with open arms. April Morris his widow is left to mourn with us.
Survived is her high school sweetheart Bobby P. Huskey he noticed her in a small town school Bethware School in Kings Mountain in 1951. Where everybody knows everybody the courtship began. His eyes still shine for her after 68 years of marriage. They were married in Bethlehem Baptist Church December 25, 1955.
Her husband Bob flew airplanes for Pan American, United Airlines he served in the Air Force and the Air National Guard.
Laura graduated from Kings Business College later to become General Manager of Ramada Inn, Comfort Inn of Hendersonville and Fairfield Mountains in Lake Lure.
She was a basketball player, 38 point per game. She was a social butterfly and she loved to do nice things for all her family and friends. She was beautiful, funny and a strong independent woman. Her sense of humor was admired by many. She played bridge, participated in many clubs, Junior Welfare Club, Den Mother, Travel and Tourism Counsel and Red Hats Club. She had also volunteered at the Flat Rock Playhouse.
Her love for the Lord was instilled in her children at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville where she was an active member since 1963.
Her oldest son Dr. Greg Huskey wife Cindy Huskey. Second son Mr. Mike Huskey and wife Rita. Her third son Mr. Eric Huskey and wife Kaye. Her fourth and only daughter Carol Huskey.
She was blessed with many grandchildren Brent Huskey wife Sarah, Steven Huskey wife Brittany, Brianna Huskey husband Derek, Ryan Huskey wife Nina, Laura Ann Huskey O’Sullivan husband Sean, Samantha Huskey Sawyer husband Nick , Logan Huskey.
Great grandchildren Olive, Connor, Harper, Patrick, Charlotte, Emmie, Riley, Julia. One on the way TBD.
Our lives will always feel the loss of such a beautiful soul. Rest in peace Laney we will see you on the other side.
Laura will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 13th at 12:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, 1017 Bethlehem Road, Kings Mountain, North Carolina with Dr. Steve Taylor officiating.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20th at 2:00 PM at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating.
